filming with a hint of editing

as you know yesterday we took the time to go over what we needed to film and what. Here's a little backstory so you can remember what we are trying to film. "one that shows the lake behind my house and then moves quickly to the house then quickly to inside. The second one was in the morning with an upshot of the sky while birds fly past then swipes down to the door and rush through the door into the table room. The third bringing the same thing as the scene but at nighttime. There is a part where the scene comes in and it's the house in the nights and it zooms into the door and inside the house to show the girls at their table.  Then the next scene in the morning there's a part where it the morning. Then there's a shot of the bird flying through the sky then it fades from outside to inside where one character is yelling for the other to come downstairs" Let's just say to get all those perfect shots of the sky took absolutely forever. The one that took the most time was the one where we had to wait for birds to fly by, which didn't even end up happening. But for that scene, I think some editing will come in handy later. after all this filming we did have to again film at night. This was the harder part of filming. since it was nighttime there was no natural light. We had to decide on whether we wanted to use the street lights or use the flash from a phone or use a flashlight. Since the flash on the phone wasn't strong enough it only left the streetlight and the flashlight. The street light was difficult because there wasn't enough everywhere to properly have a lit shot. So finally we tried the flashlight and it still wasn't strong enough so now we still have to find some type of stronger portable light to use. We went through the footage and chose which scenes that we could use and which ones we couldn't. We still chose to film all of them though and we are still waiting on which one gets the part in the movie when we finish filming it all. Lastly, now that we have all the daytime scenes we just need the nighttime. But anyway this is kinda what we want to have on our scene to look like.

Filming the outside pieces

Last night and this morning we took then time to facetime and figure out exactly where and what we wanted to film for the outside parts. there was some disagreement but we worked it out just like good partners do. We had a disagreement about where we wanted to film the outside parts. For example, we had three locations and types of outside shots. Like the one that shows the lake behind my house and then moves quickly to the house then quickly to inside. Then there's a shot of the bird flying through the sky then it fades from outside to inside where one character is yelling for the other to come downstairs. This was all choices for the intros of the scenes and we couldn't pick the same ones. This was due to the fact that os many of them were good for the scene. The end of the situation was the fact that we film all the scenes and wait till we have filmed the rest of the clips to see which ones fit the best. Also, we will be filming them to see if the ideas translate into good shots. Being so that means that filming the rest of our film will need to happen asap. Most likely we will be filing the rest of our five minutes film in 2 or 3 weeks. This is all depending on if everything goes to plan. Finally, after tonight getting all the shots done and making sure we have all of the shots perfect we will be editing and clipping the shots tomorrow to make them all ready for adding to our film.

the starting of filimg

hello everyone!! this is the official start of getting the final project done. Before this, we went through the steps of finding film topics, planning, storyboarding, and finalizing the script. This blog will be all about getting ready to finally start shooting. Right now we are in the process of collecting props and getting backgrounds for our movies. By backgrounds, I mean places in our homes that would be a good place to film based on location and lighting. Lighting is gonna be super important for when we film because we have a whole bunch of parts that are supposed to be filmed at night. The biggest problem with this is that I and aniyah most likely won't be able to come together at night time to film. Both of our parents are super strict and don't allow sleepovers all the time. So we are finding places that look like its night time even when it's the day so it comes out good for the shots. For example, we have the first scene of the movie is in the late afternoon when it's dark outside. So we put our heads together to work out the angles that will help and what we can do for the windows. We are planning on covering the windows with blankets and using inside lighting to make it look like night. This will make it appear like nighttime and we will continue that for the rest of the scenes in the dark. But the only problem is when we have to film the night sky at the beginning. So we decided that it would be best if I would pre-film the morning and night outside scenes before we actually film. Corona has made it super hard for aniyah and me to meet so we have been really relying on facetime and texting to get our ideas across. This has made communication a little easier. Hopefully, this ends in time for our final filming session so everything is perfect. A rushed movie is what we are trying to avoid. That's all for now Ill see you guys tomorrow.

story board for short film

Welcome to my new blog. We are getting farther in the process of completing the final project. Finally, we have reached the storyboard process. I was very excited about this. I was excited because I love our plot for the project. I am excited to complete the story. I took the lead in writing and drawing the storyboard. While Aniyah helped in figuring out which shots and camera movements were appropriate for which scene. She and I figured out all the details of the story. This process was slightly different because of social distancing. Although it was difficult, we were still able to collaborate with each, thanks to new technology. We texted and talked on the phone in order to work together. Aniyah and I were very compatible with getting the story lined up and planning everything out. I am not surprised with our compatibility because we have worked together on other assignments. From those assignments we have had outstanding outcomes. This storyboard includes a variety of details regarding the story. The details include the shots, angles, movements. Also, it includes the dialogue and the actions carried out in the story. You will find there are many twists and turns in the story. The camera movements definitely play a part in certain suspenseful factors in the project. Thank you for reading!
